Chemcon 2002 Messe

June 5, 2002 by

The worlds leading global conference series in the field of chemical regulation

will take place in Switzerland in the Convention Center, Basel, from 3rd 7th June 2002. About 350 experts, from more than 30 countries all over the world, are expected to attend the conference.

BASF AG, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, ClearCross, RCC Clearcross, and VCI e.V. are partners of the ChemCon 2002 event in Basel which is managed and organized by Feierl-Herzele GmbH and supported by CEFIC, WKÖ, Swissotel and Crossair.

ChemCon Conferences were created in 1996 as a broadly-based and global platform for all sections of the chemical industry to meet. Regulators and governmental representatives, downstream users and customers, representatives of international organisations and contract research organisations, as well as colleagues from all over the world can discuss issues of mutual interest. Thus, the ChemCon Conference is a unique forum for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, for the expression of political opinions and concepts, for sharing expectations and views, and for the discussion of all issues relating to chemical control. This results in a rapid dissemination of accurate information on current and emerging chemical regulations relating to the reporting and testing of new chemicals, chemical inventories and the evaluation of existing chemicals, classification and labelling, risk management, hazard identification and product registration.

The first event in Mannheim in 1996, followed by Vienna in1998 and Salzburg in 2000, showed an increasing number of attendees which underlines the high relevance and importance of this conference. In 2002, ChemCon will be held for the first time in Switzerland, in Basel. The series of ChemCon Conferences will continue with ChemCon ASIA in Singapore (May 2003) and ChemCon 2004 (May 2004).

ChemCon 2002 will comprise a full 3 days of lectures and presentations, approximately 40 in all, to inform participants about new chemical policy and its consequences. The focus will not only be on Europe and the USA, but, among others, on Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and ASEAN countries, Eastern Europe and Russia. All together, more than 50 countries will be spotlighted during the conference. Furthermore, up-to-date information concerning classification and labelling, risk management, hazard communication and product registration will be provided.

Five seminars will run in addition to the conference to provide in-depth and specialised information on specific issues and particular geographical regions such as US-TSCA, EU, Japan, China/HongKong/Taiwan and the Internet. There will also be a thematic breakfast dealing with software issues. Two round-table discussions will focus on the political situation, trends and market potential in Vietnam and the Ukraine
